Athletes of Character - S.T.A.R.S

S.tudents T.aking a r.esponsible s.tand (STARS)

McCoy's Action Karate incorporates a Character Development Program in every class and martial arts program. The mental and physical lessons enrich the techniques and empower the athletes; it’s more than just karate at M.A.K. The S.T.A.R sheets are essential to the American Kenpo Karate Kids program, illustrating the importance of living with integrity by applying the lessons learned on the training floor to life outside the facility. M.A.K. athletes are preparing to succeed both on and off the mat, with the intertwined mental and physical lessons of the STAR sheet reminding us to embody the values of a martial artist.

The monthly STARS Sheets are required for the American Kenpo Karate Kids to bring with them for their Stripe Test at the end of each month. These pieces of paper serve as a tangible way to carry the lessons home and illustrate the transferability of the behaviors and attitudes expected on the training floor.
